-   ABOUT THE FARM  -

Located in Ridgeville, SC

The Nichols Family Farm was established in 2022, by a family of farmers that dates back before the American Revolution. The original farm, deeded to the family under the authority of the King of England, was in upstate New York and featured everything from dairy to vegetables and maple candy. In 1978, the farm was sold to an investor and the Nichols family, led by Stewart and Sheryl, found their way to Charleston, SC.

They took a break from the business of farming, but farming was never far from their hearts and when he had the opportunity, Stewart acquired and moved a greenhouse onto their property in 2016. Always curious, he began experimenting with hydroponic gardening as a hobby, as well as more traditional modes. In 2021, Stewart and Sheryl’s daughter and son-in-law returned to Charleston from Landrum, South Carolina. In Landrum, Ron and Tammy Vanderwey operated the Glassy View Bed & Breakfast and a gentleman’s farm. Now settled in West Ashley, they needed a place to plant their green thumb, and so the Nichols Family Farm was re-born.

The Nichols Family Farm is a micro-farm located on just one acre of property southwest of Summerville. Aside from traditional seasonal fruits and vegetables, the hydroponic greenhouse makes it possible to offer some products year-round. Our goal is to make fruits and vegetables available primarily to friends and family, but also through local farmer’s markets in the Charleston area.
